Sophie Box

My name is Sophie Box and I am the Founder and Director of Sophie Box Legal Services.

I was born and raised in Herefordshire and moved across the Border upon finishing my law degree; since returning I have continued to live and work in the local area today, which gives me a strong connection to the community I serve.

My interest in law began very early. Whilst others during work experience week at high school worked in clothes shops or grocery stores (not that this is an issue), I went to a law firm where I got to work with a solicitor for the week and attend court. I went on to study Law at A-Level at Hereford Sixth Form before going on to complete my Law degree at Oxford Brookes University. I later completed my LPC and a Master’s degree with the Open University. I then worked in various law firms starting as receptionist, legal secretary, paralegal before finally completing my training contract - I have been a solicitor now for 5 years.

My professional journey has been shaped not only by my legal education but also by my personal experiences. As a child of divorce — my parents separated when I was five — I understand first-hand the emotional impact that family breakdown can have. I am also part of a blended family myself, which has given me a deeper appreciation of the complexities families can face and the importance of handling matters with care, sensitivity and practical solutions.

Alongside founding Sophie Box Legal Services, I also run a child contact centre which provides a safe place for parents or connected others to have contact with their children. This work reflects my commitment to helping families maintain safe and positive relationships with their children during difficult times.

Family law is deeply personal, and I pride myself on being friendly, approachable, and easy to talk to. Clients often come to me at some of the most challenging moments in their lives, so I focus on providing clear, straightforward advice and steady support throughout the process.

Outside of work, I spending time with my family,  enjoy visiting the Gower (my second home), exercising, and eating a little more chocolate than I probably should.

Lydia Scott-Lowe

My name is Lydia Scott-Lowe and I am the paralegal at Sophie Box Legal Services.

I was born and raised in and around the area, living in the countryside during my childhood before moving to Brecon.

My interest in law came about when I started working at a child contact centre in 2023. In this role, I see firsthand how family disputes and legal decisions deeply affect children and parents. Supporting families during supervised contact sessions made me aware of the complex emotional and legal challenges involved in separation and contact arrangements. Seeing the real impact that legal processes have on people’s lives motivated me to learn more about the law and ultimately inspired my ambition to work in the legal field, where I hope to contribute to outcomes that support and protect families.

I am currently undertaking my Law degree through The Open University, balancing my academic studies with gaining invaluable hands-on experience working in a law firm. This combination allows me to develop both a strong theoretical understanding of the law and practical insight into how legal principles are applied in a professional setting. My long-term goal is to complete the SQE and qualify as a solicitor, enabling me to build a career where I can provide meaningful legal support and make a positive difference to clients.

Family law can be an emotionally challenging area, and I strive to provide a compassionate and approachable source of support for our clients throughout the process. My aim is to help make the journey through the family court process as smooth and stress-free as possible, ensuring that clients feel supported, informed, and confident every step of the way.

In my spare time, I enjoy going to the gym, spending time outdoors with my dog Nell, exploring new places and being with my family and friends.

Ella Powell

My name is Ella Powell and I am the Legal Secretary at Sophie Box Legal Services.

Having grown up locally, I have a strong appreciation for the beautiful surroundings in which I call home.

I'll be honest, a career in law was not originally something I had planned! However, through work experience I bring a wealth of administrative knowledge to my role. When the opportunity arose to join the team alongside Sophie, I recognised it as a chance to apply my skills in a new environment. Since settling into the role, I have found working in the legal sector both rewarding and engaging, enjoying the fast-paced nature of the work where no two days are the same.

I consider myself to be kind, friendly, and approachable, qualities that have helped me adapt well into the world of Family Law. I takes great pride in being part of a team that supports clients throughout challenging times and I value the opportunity to contribute to making a positive difference in people’s lives.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my children, going to the gym, and taking part in a variety of outdoor activities.
